During my time in New York, I had an obsession with the broken bikes that litter the streets. I loved that one day a bike on the corner was whole, the next it was missing a tire, then the seat, then the handlebars, and so on until it was stripped down to the bare frame. It is urban entropy.

I was inspired to document this urban entropy when I got a Palm Zire in 2005. It had a camera that took pictures are a blazing 640×480 resolution. All joking aside, I loved the aesthetic of that camera. I began taking photos and meticulously documenting the time, date, and location of every broken bike I passed on the street.

Nearly a decade and 300+ photos later, and I have yet to consolidate them all into one place. I still have the original blog up on Blogspot (yup, old school) and all the more recent photos up on Flickr. But here are my favorites, unedited, in all their broken glory.
